Valence House is a partially moated manor house with parts dating back to the 1400s.
Exhibits trace the history of the local area including material from archaeological digs. Currently on loan to the museum is the Dagenham Idol, which at around 4000 years old is one of the oldest recorded humanoid figures found in Europe.
