One of the oldest churches in London, it was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666 and rebuilt, the new design being by Sir Christopher Wren. This is known as the "Printers Cathedral" and the "Journalists Church".
Badly damaged in World War II the church was rebuilt again, there are plaques and memorials to journalists and writers along with a small museum in the crypt about the history of the church and parts of a roman road.
