There are several old features remaining from the opening in 1907. The park is named after the writer John Ruskin who lived in the area.

The park was used for a Pink Floyd photoshoot in 1967 for the Piper At The Gates Of Dawn album.

The childrens playground features a paddling pool which operates in the summer. The park also features a tree trail which can be downloaded from the web site.
