Developed on the site of a gas works which was destroyed by a V2 rocket in World War 2. The park was opened in 1958 but was extended in the 1980s.
In 1992 Michael Jackson landed here by helicopter, bringing Mickey and Minnie Mouse to visit a local childrens hospital.
The park now houses a BMX track, trim trail and childrens play area.
