The park is what remains of the gardens of the residence of the Bishop of Rochester.

What used to be the moat of Bromley Palace is now the lake. There are also rockeries, an ice house, a folly and a Ha Ha all of which are listed historic structures. Saint Blaise Well lies at the North end of the lake.
